description Mauthe Lake Campground Kettle Moraine S.F.- Northern Unit's Mauthe Lake Campground Web Site has 135 mostly wooded sites-including 51 electrical sites, 2 disability accessible campsites, and a Native American plains style tepee available for rent. Each site includes a fire ring with a partial cooking grate, and a picnic table. Amenities include one centrally located combination flush toilet / shower building, vault toilets and water fountains spread throughout the campground, a sanitary dump station with water, and a recycling/garbage station. Firewood is available for sale whenever the entrance station is open. Mauthe Lake Campground is open year round (along with the well adjacent to the entrance station). Water fountains and water at the dump station are turned on and off depending upon the threat of freezing. During the off-season, campers can self- register for camping and vehicle admission stickers whenever the entrance station is closed. Kettle Moraine Northern Unit Kettle Moraine S.F.- Northern Unit Web Site provides the opportunity for a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Mauthe Lake Recreational Area offers a swimming beach with adjacent picnic area, a pet picnic area, children`s playground equipment, a reservable shelter building, a 2 mile self-guided nature trail around the lake, easy access to the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, a handicapped accessible fishing pier, boat launch, watercraft rentals, and bike trail access to Long Lake Recreation Area. The New Fane Mountain Bike Trails are nearby.
